PREROGATIVE OF HAPPINESS
II Kings 4:14-37
Life is too short to be unhappy. Accepted, there are unpleasant situations that will make you unhappy. But you can pick yourself up immediately and live above sadness. Whatever you might be going through, your state of unhappiness will definitely not bring about a solution. On the contrary, it may lead to ill health. The truth of the matter is that God did not promise Christians a bed of roses. Even in the midst of that bed of roses there are thorns. Yet the roses flourish and blossom.
It is your prerogative to be happy. The story of the Shunammite woman is a story that proves the fact that life will project what you reflect. Despite the fact that she had the child at a very old age, the child died. Instead of sitting in one place, grieving over the loss of her only son, with mourners consoling her, she recalled the source of her miracle and went back there. Even when she had the opportunity to attract sympathy and wallow in self-pity, she told everyone who asked her that “it shall be well” when in actual fact her son had died. When she got to the man of God, she knew she was where she would get solution; she said “it is well”. Accepted you do not have the monopoly of controlling the external factors that affect your life, you however have the strength to control the internal factors. How you react will eventually affect what you get out of life. Be positive about life.
Make a decision that you are going to be happy, no matter what. The human mind, left alone, will often drift toward the negative. Be a positive person and you will receive positive result. When you live a happy life, it affects everything and everyone around you.
