ABRAHAM: DO YOU TRUST GOD?
Genesis 22:1-14
Abraham had his beloved son Isaac at the advanced age of 100. He was happy, rejoicing and enjoying his miracle son when he received a strange instruction from God:
“Take your son, your only son, whom you love-Isaac-and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on a mountain I will show you”
Abraham had doubted before when God promised him a child in his old age. God eventually made good his promise. This past experience was of great help to him in his walk with God. Abraham had developed an ABSOLUTE TRUST in the Lord. Hebrew 11:17-19 “By faith Abraham, when God had tested him, offered Isaac as a sacrifice. He who had embraced the promises was about to sacrifice his one and only son, even though God had said to him ‘it is through Isaac that your offspring will be reckoned.’ Abraham reasoned that God could even raise the dead, and so in a manner of speaking he did receive Isaac back from death” He did not understand fully what God was doing but he was sure that whatever it was, God would do him good only, and not evil.
Do you trust God enough to obey Him when you do not understand fully what He is doing in your life? Trust God confidently, hand your life into his hands – he will not lead you to a dead end.
MEMORY VERSE: Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to give you hope and a future”
