THE LAW OF GESTATION
Jeremiah 1:1-5
The period of gestation is the period of incubating ideas, thoughts and plans. We are more familiar with it in terms of the development of a child in the mother’s womb, otherwise known as the pregnancy period. There is a moment of conception and a moment of birth. Gestation is the long period between them. During gestation, a lot of things happen before the foetus or idea can mature enough to be birthed into reality. In the course of the gestation period, there are risks that could lead to unforeseen situations like an abortion, still birth and other complications. This is equally applicable to the ideas that we want to manifest. Just in the same manner that it is important to birth a baby after the gestation period of nine months, so it is important to carry God’s promises to term.
It is a given that God had mapped out your life right from when you were in the womb. We must know that he is very much interested in whatever you are incubating. He had great plans from you even before you were birthed. The cycle of life dictates that there must be a conception before a delivery. As beautiful as the vision might be, if the carrier does not observe the protocol required to nurture the budding vision it might result in a still birth or worst still miscarriage. Your posture needs to carry the appearance of someone nurturing a young; your hygiene, your intake, nutrients and so on. Just as a pregnant woman minds her step, attends the antenatal, watches her nutrition so also someone gestating a vision also lets the requirements of the vision dictate his/her life. You’ll have to make conscious choices based on what the vision needs. This is the time when you’ll have to make deliberate choices on what company you keep; the knowledge you seek; what food you consume, the number of hours you need to sleep, number of hours you need to study ,identify and nurture relationships that can assist you to birth your vision.
Your gestation period is to nurture to life that which you are created for. One thing you must know is that, it is the magnitude or size of what you are carrying that will determine how long the gestation period will be. A dog and a cat have a gestation period of 64 and 65 days to birth its puppies and kittens while a horse has 342 days, and an elephant has 660 days gestation period. You don’t have to be envious of your neighbour who has birthed his own dreams. You could be carrying a bigger seed. Focus on nurturing your visions and aspirations to term in line with the plans and promises of God. Do everything within your power to ensure that you do not suffer a miscarriage. Someone wrote: “No great thing is created suddenly, any more than a bunch of grapes or a fig. If you tell me that you desire a fig, I answer you that there must be time. Let it first blossom, then bear fruit, then ripen”.
MEDITATION: Every dream has a gestation period. Don’t let your dreams be aborted in a hurry. You’ll have to make conscious choices based on what your life vision needs.
