THE LAW OF NAVIGATION 1
Exodus 13:20-22
Navigation is described as the process of accurately ascertaining one’s position and planning, following a route. It is to walk or find one’s way. Most of us have had cause to use google map in locating places or use google search engine to navigate the web. You will note that this has made things easier. This is the advantage navigation offers people. Traditionally, it helps sailors not to get lost in sea.
We all need it to get ahead and not get lost in the midst of the many distractions that we are faced with on daily basis. The Israelites, when they were camped in the desert relied on God to provide them with some sort of guidance. They were travelling through unfamiliar terrain. God guided them day and night in his own peculiar way. Even when no road seemed in sight, he took them through the middle of the sea, parted the Red Sea for their sake so that they would arrive at their destination.
In the course of using google map to navigate your way through unfamiliar terrains, you do take care not to miss the directions it provides. More often than not, google map will always provide you with the shortest route to your destination. It will endeavour to inform you if there are some holdbacks along your way. Perhaps you miss a turning, it will reroute you so that you will endeavour to arrive at your destination in the long run. It is important while using the google map not to miss the directions it provides in order to arrive on time.
The same thing applies to us in life. Life is a journey. We all have our destinations where we are headed, and we have God providing the links that we need to arrive on time. On this journey, there are ups and downs, there are turnings, there are distractions – other road users, structures and buildings, traffic etc. It is important that we do not give room for distractions. Distractions are everywhere. Just as it is with google maps, you have to be focussed on the map to arrive at your destination on time. Because life can get complicated, we need to rely on God to help us navigate through life. He is the only assurance that we have if we are not to miss the turnings we ought to take. We must therefore trust the good Shephered. He knows the way. He knows the end even before the beginning.
MEDITATION: you don’t want to be derailed in life and destiny? Let God be your Navigator.
