BE GRATEFUL

Psalm 92:1-4

A “grateful attitude” is a condition where you are passionately grateful and thankful irrespective of what you are enjoying or enduring. Being grateful should not be dependent on what you get or do not get.  It is being thankful at all times and in all given situations.  It is about you and God and not dependent on “things and situations”. That is why the psalmist describes it as a good thing.

It is a good thing to give thanks unto the LORD, And to sing praises unto thy name, O most High: To shew forth thy lovingkindness in the morning, And thy faithfulness every night, Upon an instrument of ten strings, and upon the psaltery; Upon the harp with a solemn sound. For thou, LORD, hast made me glad through thy work: I will triumph in the works of thy hands. Psalm 92: 1-4

It is a good thing indeed.  When you give thanks in all circumstances, good things flow towards you.  How is this possible?  Giving thanks is a commandment of God himself. “In everything, give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you”.  This is a clear instruction.  You may call it a Law.  So the Law of gratitude is that you must express it always.  In good times, give thanks.  In other moments also, give thanks.  The God on the mountain top is also the God in the valley.

Beloved, when you are grateful, great things come your way. There is an adage that says “If a child shows gratitude for yesterday’s good deeds, he will get more”. This is the law that worked for the grateful Samaritan leper.  He came back to say thank you. And he went home not only cleansed but made whole.  If you obey the law of gratitude, you are on your way to wholeness.

REFLECTION:  Gratitude for past good deeds attracts more. Let this be your watchword henceforth.  You shall soon see its impacts in your life.
