FAITH OVER FEAR II

Exodus 14: 13 – 16

There are things you must do to exchange your fear for faith.

Be informed. It is important that you get the facts right. If you’re going to take risks, God wants you to get the facts right. Anything that requires faith is going to have some element of risk in it, but God doesn’t want you taking foolish risks. That is not faith. So, get the facts at any price, and hold on tightly to all the good sense you can get: “buy the truth, and sell it not; also, wisdom, and instruction, and understanding” (Proverbs 23:23). And this can only be gotten by studying the word of God.

Count the Cost. Jesus warned his listeners against this: Luke 14: 28 – 31, “For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it… Or what king, going to make war against another king, sitteth not down first, and consulteth whether he be able with ten thousand to meet him that cometh against him with twenty thousand?” Sensible men of faith think about where they’re going. They understand that you don’t go charging into battle without a plan.

Trust Him. Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths”. Your absolute trust in Him will make you commit all your ways to Him. You will never take any step without first running it with Him to get His go ahead. With this in place, when challenges come, you are definite that the Lord is in charge.

MEDITATION: “Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness” (Isaiah 41:10).
