PREPARE FOR DISAPPOINTMENTS OF MAN
Psalm 41: 5-9
It is not possible to live and accomplish much in life without the input of others. Such others include family members, co-workers, customers or clients, neighbours, friends and even opponents. From cradle, nay the womb, to the grave, you will always need people to help you on the path of destiny. But in the process, you may meet with a few or even many disappointments. Those who should do certain things may not be there for you at crucial moments. They may not just refuse to help; but may even work directly against you!.
Have you been in that position before when you meet with disappointments from people; especially close people? It could be painful. We have seen people who felt so weighed down by disappointments of men that they found it impossible to recover. Some went into depression and eventually turned against themselves and the society. This happens because such people are not prepared for the realities of man’s nature.
Beloved, the only sure helper you can trust in life is the Almighty God. He alone has the capacity, the love and the willingness to help you. He is the only one that cannot fail you, (Psalm 121: 1-5). It is the Lord alone that can help you. If a man does, it is because the Lord enables and directs that man to help you. So if a man chooses not to help you, don’t be disappointed. It is because the Lord has not put your help in the minds of such a man. Just look up to God. He will send help via another unexpected channel.
Do you know why men fail? Some just don’t have the ability to do the things you want. Just like you have your challenges, they also have. Is it everyone that comes to you for help that you have the capacity to attend to? Definitely no. In another instance, the man may be constrained by circumstances beyond his control. Or he may just not be willing to help.
Whenever the situation, just relax and look up to heaven. Shift focus from man and let God be your helper. In doing so, you will not feel the pains of the Psalmist in our text today.
