OPPRESSION IS NOT YOUR PORTION V
Psalm 46: 1-11
In this particular Psalm, we find one of the confessions of this ministry repeated twice for emphasis. The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuse, (Verses 7). Oppression is real. People are suffering. They are being molested and violated everyday everywhere. But there is a sure place of refuge; a place where you can be exempted from all the evil pervading the Land. “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble” (verse 1). A refuge is where you run to in troubled times. In ancient biblical days, every city had a tower where people run to in times of trouble. The tower was usually well fortified to repel attacks. People who run there would be safe until the end of battle. That is why the name of the Lord is described as a strong tower where the righteous runs to for safety.
You will agree that these are troubled times. We read or hear of physical oppression every day and everywhere. No place is sacrosanct. Military men are being kidnapped or killed even right in their barracks. Who then is safe? Only the one who makes the Lord his refuge is safe. The only place to run to in these troubles times is to the Lord of hosts. Put your trust in him, He is the only sure refuge against physical and spiritual oppression. It does not matter the strength of the enemy or how wide spread the terror, he that puts his trust in the Lord shall be safe. Read Psalm 46: 2-5 again.
This shall be your story. You shall be far from oppression throughout this year and beyond. God shall help you and keep you safe in the house; on the roads; in the sky and on the seas. No evil ravaging the land shall come near your dwelling. The Lord shall keep you and yours safe. Just make him your tower of strength. Pray to him in faith and take the necessary safety measures you can afford. Let your horse be prepared for the day of battle but leave your safety in the hands of the Lord.
PRAYER: Make a loud confession of Psalm 91 over your life and yours.
