ABRAHAM: PARTING WAYS WITH LOT
GENESIS 13: 14-16
God called Abraham and asked him to depart the land of Haran. He should have left with his wife and belongings as instructed by God. Instead, he went along with his nephew, Lot as an extra baggage and thought it did not matter (Genesis 12: 1-4). But immediately he parted ways with lot, God visited him again in a powerful encounter. The Abrahamic covenant was re-affirmed. God was actually waiting for Abraham to drop the extra baggage which Lot represented. God had a plan for Abraham and Lot was not part of it because God’s promise was to Abraham and his descendants.
Lot is that unnecessary burden you take upon yourself out of sentiment or ignorance. Think carefully, your Lot could be that relationship, that habit or any other thing that can slow you down in the journey of life. Often times, God will wait patiently for you to get rid of the Lot in your life before moving you up. So, get rid of your Lot today. May the Lord open your eyes to see the Lot in your life. May the Lord give you wisdom and courage to assess and rearrange your life so that you can actually part ways with your Lot.
