ABRAHAM: PASS THE TEST

GENESIS 22:15-18

Yesterday, we read about how God instructed Abraham to sacrifice his son Isaac on the mount Moriah (Gen22:1-14). That instruction was a big test from God and Abraham passed the test. Every student knows that promotion follows success in examination. As it is in the school system, so it is in all other spheres of life. Abraham passed the examination and God appeared to him again, this time to re-affirm the Abrahamic covenant by an oath. Any testimony given under oath is considered to be of high integrity and taken very seriously. That is why witnesses are put under oath before they speak in court.

God meant business in Gen 22:16 while speaking to Abraham “I swear by myself, declares the Lord…”

So many people benefit from the Abrahamic covenant today-Jews all over the world, the Israeli nation, Arabs, born-again Christians all over the world. A lot of these people do not know that the singular act of Abraham, when he accepted to sacrifice his son Isaac in obedience to God, is one of the pillars on which the Abrahamic covenant is standing.

The law of examination says that when you pass your test, you are promoted, but when you fail, you repeat the class. Despite the fact that a course is well taught in class, some students would still fail for various reasons. Some would play truancy and not attend lectures; others attend classes but will not pay attention to the teacher; and some, though attended classes will not go over their notes to master them. It is up to you. As you go on in life, you will come across courses in character development, relationship management, spiritual development, career or ministry. Master your course notes and you will pass the tests life brings your way.

MEDITATION: Proverbs 24:10 “If you fail in the day of your adversity, your strength is small”
