ABRAHAM THE INTERCESSOR 1
Genesis 18:17-33
Abraham’s intercessory prayer for Sodom is one of the most remarkable prayers in the Bible. He did not reside in either Sodom or Gomorrah so the destruction of those cities could not have affected him in any way. Nevertheless, he prayed sincerely from his heart to persuade God to change His mind about Sodom. Though he could not stop the destruction of Sodom (because God did not find ten righteous persons in the city), his intercession made God to remember and exempt Lot, the only righteous person in the city, from the destruction that took place.
Are you concerned enough to sincerely pray for others? During prayer meetings, many people pray with so much zeal and energy while praying for themselves and their families; but call out prayer points for other people or country and their zeal will drop drastically. It is obvious they are not really interested in those prayer points that are not directed at them or their families.
Every believer must grow beyond this level because God is searching for believers who will stand in the gap for others. He wants you to partner with Him to execute His will on earth.
MEDITATION: Ezekiel 22:30 “ I looked for someone among them who will build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land so I would not have to destroy it, but I found no one”
