ABRAHAM THE INTERCESSOR 2

LUKE 2: 25-28

We learn from the example of Abraham’s great intercession in Genesis 18:17-33 that an intercessor is someone who is concerned for others and pleads with God on their behalf. He is one who partners with God to establish God’s kingdom on earth (Matt 6:10). He is bold, understands God’s character and uses it to advantage in His prayer room to influence God’s action on earth.

The secrets of God are oftentimes revealed to intercessors ahead of time. This is because they are close to God and can feel His heartbeat on many issues. That was the case with Simeon and Anna who recognized the baby Jesus when he was brought to the temple for dedication (Luke 2:25-38). While others saw a baby boy, they saw the messiah that Israel had been waiting for, for many years.

Simeon and Anna were great intercessors who knew ahead of time what God was planning to do, so it was not hard for them to recognize Jesus when they saw him in the temple. You too can be like them if you commit yourself to an intercessory lifestyle.

MEDITATION:

Genesis 18:17 “Then the Lord said, shall I hide from Abraham what I am about to do?”
