AMAZEMENT
Exodus 15: 1-14
And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one to another, What meaneth this? Acts 2:12
The Scriptures is filled with wonders. Our God is a wonder working God. All he does is wonderful. He is the Doer of Wonders. A wonder is something that causes people to be amazed. A wonder is an Amazement. God specializes in doing wonders. The whole world celebrates God’s greatest wonder today. The birth of the Lord Jesus of a virgin is a wonder. His life is a wonder. His death is a wonder. His resurrection is a wonder. What his resurrection brought to mankind is a wonder.
As for you, He will fill your life with Amazement. People will look at you and be amazed at the wonders of God in your life. All through the Bible, you find God doing wonders! If it is not a wonder, it is not God. The creation story is the story of wonder. Every of His dealings with man through-out History have been on the basis of wonder. The writer of Psalm 136 did a profile of His Wonders. You should take time to wade through and meditate on that particular Psalm to see the wonders of God.
What is a Wonder? According to every conventional dictionary, a wonder will be described as a feeling of surprise mingled with admiration. This definition cannot capture the full meaning of the word as used in the scriptures. Something has to happen and it has to be beyond the ordinary. It has to be surprising. It has to attract your admiration. It must have defied the norms or laws of nature that you the recipient or the witness would have nothing to say but to conclude, this is the wonder of God.
Joshua 3:5 says “tomorrow, God will do wonders among you”. This is talking about you. Day in, day out, God will lift your head. He will deal harshly with your enemies. He will daze you with his blessing. At the end of the year, you yourself will say “I am a wonder into many”. You shall sing of the Lord’s kindness and wonders as we dance into the New Year. As you ponder on and expect wonders in your life, we wish you Merry Christmas.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, make my life a wonder to behold.
