BREAKING FORTH: COMMUNION WITH FELLOW BELIEVERS

Ephesians 2:11-22

In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit. Ephesians 2:22

God the creator of the heavens and the earth is a social being. He does not exist or work alone but in the company of other beings. He is seen performing the great work of creation in Genesis by employing the famous ‘Let us’ command. Because man is created in His image, God expects you to also manifest this social aspect of Him. The early Christians understood the importance of this communion with fellow believers in Acts 2:42:

And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship and in breaking of bread and in prayers

This sharing of life together studying the scriptures praying and breaking of bread created a strong unified community of saints that could break forth into unity and break away from societal rifts and divisions inorder to demonstrate the love of Christ to the world.

Far from merely showcasing Christ love, this unity of purpose, also created a loud voice of request that the heavens could not ignore. The Holy Spirit was released upon the early Christians only when they were of one accord.

Networking among believers is not only of high intrinsic value, but as an act of faith it is endorsed and blessed by God. In Psalms 133:1-2 it is proclaimed: Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron’s beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments; Psalms 133:3 ‘As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the LORD commanded the blessing, even life for evermore’. Thus, God commands break forth blessings among brethren under a conducive atmosphere of unity and love.

Beloved, cooperative endeavours and dynamic interaction will go a long way to foster progress within the church fold. Believers must actively interact and pursue common goals in order to move the Kingdom of God forward. You can’t develop and grow in isolation of other believers. You need their strength for your weakness. Your strengths will also compliment their weaknesses. Connect. Interact. Cooperate. Help somebody. Partner.

PRAYER: I am built up with other believers into a holy habitation of God: Together we shall move the kingdom of God forward.
