DEVELOPING YOURSELF
I Timothy 4:8-16
Every child of God is given an assignment to accomplish in the world. It may be the work of the ministry, the secular world or even the family. The list is enormous. It is important that every Christian must strive to be the best in what he has been called to do. This can only be achieved when you add value to your life through self-development. By Self Development, we refer to the deliberate efforts directed at improving one’s ability and identity by upscaling necessary potentials. It includes building one’s human capital to facilitate employability and enhance one’s total quality of life to the realization of dreams and aspirations.
Engage in life development actions. Study and attend courses in line with your dreams and purposes. Be involved in those things which will make your life to appreciate. Don’t dwell on frivolities. Life is too dynamic to be wasted. Make room for change. Be committed to a life of excellence because excellence is the hallmark of God’s work (Isaiah 11:1-3).
The first step towards self-development is acknowledging your weaknesses. This means you must identify what your challenges are and be determined to work on them. This may include your lifestyle, speech and conduct. Develop all the skills you need to make your life meaningful. If you need to go back to school, do not postpone any further. Acquire computer skills, if you wish to be relevant in this age and time. People don’t grow by accident, they grow by design. So design yourself for success through self-development.
