FAITH IN UNEXPECTED PLACES
Joshua 2:8-13
“But she said, ‘I know that the Lord has given you this land… For the Lord your God is God in heaven above and on the earth below.'” – Joshua 2:9, 11
In Joshua chapter 2, we encounter Rahab, a Canaanite prostitute living in Jericho. When the Israelite spies come to scout the land, she chooses to hide them, showing incredible faith and courage. Despite her background, Rahab recognized the power of the God of Israel and acted on that belief, ultimately playing a crucial role in the unfolding of God’s plan. There are 3 points to lean from these passage:
- Faith Can Be Found Anywhere
Rahab’s story teaches us that faith can emerge from the most unexpected places. While she was living in a city doomed for destruction, she demonstrated a remarkable belief in God’s sovereignty. This reminds us that God can use anyone, regardless of their past or status, to fulfill His purposes.
- Courageous Action
Rahab’s choice to protect the spies was a bold move that put her life at risk. Her faith compelled her to take action, illustrating that true faith often requires us to step out of our comfort zones. God calls us to act on our beliefs, even when the stakes are high.
- The Power of Redemption
Despite her past, Rahab’s faith led to her salvation and inclusion in the lineage of Jesus (Matthew 1:5). This highlights the incredible truth that no one is beyond God’s reach. God can redeem our stories, transforming us from the least likely into instruments of His grace.
Are there areas in your life where you feel unworthy or unlikely to be used by God? How can you step out in faith, like Rahab, and trust that God can work through you? Consider how God might be calling you to take courageous action today.
MEDITATION: If Rahab, why not me?
PRAYER: Lord I’m available, use me for your assignment here on earth.
