FIX YOUR GAZE ON JESUS
Heb 12:1-2, John 14:1, 27
It is part of our reality that we are greatly weighed down by many burdens: weights and yokes on our shoulders, academic challenges, financial difficulties, marital problems, lack of peace etc. The scripture commands that we fix our gaze on Jesus, the Author and the Finisher of our faith. In essence, we are not to base our standards of achievement, growth, success, and the likes on the yardstick of earthly or manly requirement, but from the lens of God’s words, with emphasis on our gaze on Jesus. Whilst it is true that we can be easily discouraged by daily occurrences in the news, we are to firmly look unto the perfect picture, the true standard of living victoriously amidst life’s ups and downs and calamities.
To succeed with dealing with the challenges of life, we need to do the following:
- Be born again, John 3:16
- Grow in word of God and in His Grace
- Fellowship with the brethren
- Obey Christ, God’s beloved Word
- Be led in the spirit and walk in divine counsel
- In the circumstances we encounter, we fix our gaze on Jesus knowing fully well that He has the capacity to calm all storms of life.
- Train yourself to hear God’s daily, John 10:1-5, Heb 1:1-2
PRAYER: Thank you, Jesus, for giving me a perfect example to follow. Help me to continually look up to you as the starter and finisher of my journey with you. Help me never to be swayed nor take my gaze away from you. Amen.
