GOD FIGHTS FOR US AND INVITES BOLD FAITH

Joshua 10:1-15

“The Lord threw them into confusion before Israel… The sun stopped in the middle of the sky and delayed going down about a full day.” — Joshua 10:10, 13

There was an alliance of five Amorite kings who band together to attack the Gibeonites, a people who have recently allied with Israel. When Joshua hears of the attack, he marches all night with his troops to help their allies. God reassures Joshua, saying, “Do not be afraid of them; I have given them into your hand” (Joshua 10:8). As the battle rages, God steps in powerfully, raining down hailstones on Israel’s enemies and causing them confusion. Joshua, full of faith, prays that the sun will stand still so that Israel can complete the victory. In response, God extends the daylight, giving Israel the time they need.

God is Our Defender. Joshua didn’t have to face this overwhelming alliance alone—God Himself promised to fight for Israel. In our lives, we sometimes forget that we don’t have to face our challenges by ourselves. God is present and willing to defend us, no matter how big the challenge. Take your battles to God in prayer. Know that He is with you and wants to help you through whatever you’re facing.

Pray boldly and trust God’s power. Joshua’s prayer for the sun to stand still was extraordinary. He believed that God could do the impossible. His example encourages us to bring our biggest prayers to God with confidence, trusting in His ability to do more than we can imagine.

What bold prayers are you afraid to pray? Take a leap of faith and bring those prayers to God, trusting in His limitless power.

Trust God’s timing. God extended the day, giving Israel the exact amount of time they needed. His timing, though sometimes different from ours, is always perfect. He knows what we need and provides it in the right moment.  When you’re waiting for a breakthrough or feel like things are delayed, remember that God’s timing is better than ours. He knows the right time for everything.

PRAYER: Lord, I thank You for being my strength and defender. Help me to trust You fully, to pray with bold faith, and to rest in Your perfect timing. Lead me, guide me, and fight my battles. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
