HE WHO DELIVERS

Daniel 6: 20 – 28

Deliverance is crucial in the journey of destiny. Each of us, at some point in life, needs to be delivered from some unpleasant predicaments. It may be external or internal. Deliverance is a major theme of the Bible, and of history, and of life in general because there is a constant and continuous need in every human life for deliverance.

The heroes of history are the deliverers. Moses led his people out of Egypt as a great deliverer. The kings of Israel, like David, the judges, like Samson, were deliverers. The Bible tells the story of God’s people being ensnared and under the bondage of an oppressor over and over again. It however never fails to relay the account of how the Lord would raise a deliverer to set them free.

At one point or the other, most great men in the Bible were in need of deliverance. Joseph was delivered from the pit, Potiphar’s wife, and prison. He later rose up to be a deliverer of his family, and the people of God. David was delivered from Saul, the lions and the bears; he rose to deliver his people from their enemies before he became a great leader among his people. Three Hebrew young men were delivered from the fiery furnace. Jonah was delivered from the belly of the fish. No matter how turbulent the storm is or how dark the tunnel is, be assured of His deliverance. God has never failed and He will not start with you. What you need to do is to trust Him absolutely. Psalms 20: 7, “Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God”. You recall what happened to Pharaoh who trusted in his chariots? Lean on God. He will deliver you.

MEDITATION: “He said: “The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation. He is my stronghold, my refuge and my savior— from violent people you save me” (2 Samuel 22: 2 – 3)
