INCREASE IS A MUST
Increase is both a noun and a verb. As a noun, it is to have more than before by either addition or multiplication. When the sower went to sow, the ones that fell on good soil yielded increase of thirty-fold, sixty-fold and even a hundred fold returns. This is increase. As a verb, it is to take action to add to what there is. For instance, you may be told to increase the volume of the radio set; increase what you intend to give etc. If your harvest is small, you may be advised to increase your seed.
Increase is important to life. It is said there is no static in life. You are either moving forward or going backwards. If you are not increasing, you are definitely decreasing. Increase is God’s plan for mankind. At creation, the charge to Adams was to “be fruitful and multiply”.
And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. Genesis 1:28-29
The same charge was given to Noah after the flood. And God blessed Noah and his sons, and said unto them. Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth”, (Genesis 9:1). The Almighty God had not withdrawn this blessing. As a believer, your Father wants you to increase. We are not just talking only about biological family increase. The Lord will bless you with the number of children you want or the number you can manage.
God also wants increase for you in every department of your life. Everything about you must reflect increase. With God, you can’t remain on the same spot. No. Never. If God is involved, there is only one outcome that is desirable and that is increase. But there are principles to follow if you must increase. These are divine Principles or Laws of increase.
The first Law to observe is the principle of the God factor. Mathew 6:34 tells us to “seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you”. If you follow this principle, you shall have increase. Let God be your Number one consideration whether in business, materials etc. Obey his instruction. Be relevant in his house. Do his will at all times. And you will enjoy his additions and multiplications. See how the writer of proverbs put it.
Honour the LORD with thy substance, And with the firstfruits of all thine increase: So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, And thy presses shall burst out with new wine. Proverbs 3: 9-10
Godis interested in giving you more. He can increase your peace, wisdom, spiritual discernment and sensitivity, financial and material wealth if only you will obey the principles of increase.
Another thing we must do if we want increase is watch the seed. If you are not increasing, check what and how you sow and where you do so. Harvest responds to seed. Increase is a function of how much you harvest while harvest is dependent on your seed and how you nurture it to fruitfulness. How and where you seed will determine your increase.
Another principle or law of increase is to seek knowledge. It is possible to put God first, sow good seeds and still not have increase. Yes, if you lack the prerequisite knowledge. Having the knowledge is important in whatever task you are involved in. “A wise man will hear and will increase learning” so says Proverbs 1:5. Knowledge is essential to increase.
As much as God wants you to increase, he wants you to have the know-how. Without knowledge, you will just be running round in circles. Whatever you are involved in, keep abreast of latest information, methods and wherewithal. You must also add diligence. If you work hard and work smart, the increase you want will definitely come your way.
Finally, learn to and make a habit of praising God all the time. At each level of increase, ascribe the glory to God. “Let the people praise thee, O God . . . then shall the earth yield her increase, and God, even our own God shall bless us” Psalm 67:5-6. We cannot over-flog this issue of praise. It is essential to your increase.
