MAINTAINING AN ATTITUDE OF PRAISE
Psalm 7:17; 9:1, Isaiah 25:1
The book of Psalms is mainly filled with the Psalmist giving praises to God for all His marvelous and wondrous acts despite his unpleasant realities. He derived joy in giving praises, thanks and worship to God. Men of old, our fathers of faith, maintained an attitude of praise and worship; no doubt, they discovered the mystery in praising and worshipping God at all times. Giving gratitude and praise to God takes a deliberate effort. The child of God deliberately maintains a lifestyle of praise and worship because he knows they have immense artillery power. One way to bypass worries about our pasts, falls, and other awaiting miracles yet to be done is to maintain and attitude of praise and worship.
Below are some reasons why we do need to praise God:
- God demands it, Ps 107:1, 21.
- Praises uplift our spirits, Ps 42:5-6.
- Praises open doors of miracles, 1 Sam 17:50.
- Praises are strong weapons of warfare, Matt 21:16, Ps 8:2.
- Praises break chains, protocols, and yokes, Joshua 6:20, Acts 16:26.
- Praises grant us access to the Throne of Grace, Ps 100:4.
- God dwells in the praises of His people, Ps 22:3.
- Praises help us recount on God’s blessings, Ps 103:1-5; 105:1,5.
- Praises help us build intimacy with Maker, Ps 140:13.
The power of praises and thanksgiving to God cannot be overemphasized not only because of our gains, but because God demands it since He inhabits the praises of His people.
PRAYER: I take today to reflect on all that you have done and those you are yet to do. I pray for the heart of Thanksgiving to maintain an attitude of gratitude in all situations.
