MIND YOUR INTAKE 3
Mathew 5: 27-29
We have established that one of the entry points into our body is the eye. God gave everyone two eyes. What you see largely affects your life. It is a notorious fact that what we see or look at affects our mentality, response to life and our thought life as well as our actions. In our text, Jesus tells us that merely looking (meditating, imaginations) at a woman lustfully is equivalent to committing fornication and adultery. He said it because it is a process. First you look; then you see and then you begin to imagine what you will do and then you decide. Your further action was premeditated based on what you saw? If you have not “seen “, you would not have acted. Remember David and Bathsheba? David first saw her nakedness from afar and desired her. You know the story.
Beloved, mind what you look at. Yesterday, we saw from the scriptures that winebibbing begins with “looking at the wine when it is red” (Are they talking of your Red Wine!). Mind what films you watch, what books you read, how you look at the opposite sex; what programs you watch on the television and social media networks. All these affect your thinking and eventually your actions. While on the social media, learn to avoid unhealthy sites and sights. Just scroll on. Don’t be a victim of what you see.
Somebody said you look like who what you look at. The bible already tells us who to look at. But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the spirit of the Lord. 2 Corinthians 3:18. Shift your gaze to the LORD. Look at His word. Meditate on the scriptures. Look at things edifying. Mind what goes into your body through your eyes. Don’t be a victim of your eyes. Check your intake from the internet. There are goods there from – research, edifying books, business connections and more. These are what you should look at and not divisive and abusive internet preachers
MEDITATION: Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee. Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established. Proverbs 4:25-26
