MIND YOUR INTAKE 5

Genesis 2: 1-7

The last inlet we are going to consider is our nose.  It is an inlet as well as outlet.  We breath in and out through the nose.  According to scientists, we breath in oxygen and breath out carbon-dioxide.  When God made man, he was just dust put together until God “breathed into his nostrils the breath of life”.  It was that breath of life that made man a living soul.  No matter how severe a person’s ailment is, the medics will not take him to mortuary as long as he’s still breathing.  When breathing ceases, life terminates.

If breathing is that essential, it deserves more than a cursory look.  As already noted, life is dependent on breathing.  There are people breathing and they don’t have sound health.  So we must look at the quality of air we breathe in.  Firstly, let’s look at smoking.  The smoke is the end product of tobacco and fire.  We all know (or should) that smoke of whatever is carbon dioxide.  Knowing that carbon dioxide is breathed out, why would someone reverse the trend by breathing in what is harmful to the body?  If you are in that habit, please drop it.  Even the Government is convinced of the harm that tobacco does.  That is why every pack of cigarettes or cigar contains warning about its dangers.  Stay away from such places. You have been warned.

In another instance, we should be mindful of the need for pure air.  As much as possible, make your environment conducive for breathing.  Why must you live or dwell in not well-ventilated environment?  Beware of harmful insecticides.  Avoid environments prone to air-borne diseases.  These would include industrial places; prison like areas and others.  Beware of dirty areas.  Please note that Air-Conditioners may be doing damage to your health.  It is not all the time you must put it on.  In the morning, enjoy the natural breeze.  You can cover your nose if you find yourself in dusty or other unconducive places.   Shalom.

PRAYER:  Help me oh Lord to do things I should do to have quality intakes into my body system.
