MIND YOUR INTAKE
Mathew 15: 10-20
The body system is specially designed to have outlets for receiving and releasing. The mouth, nose, ear, eyes and bowels are few examples. God made the body a perfect creature. You breath in and out with your nose. The mouth also does the same and a few others like eating and shallowing: taste, start the digesting process. Talking is also by the mouth. Your ears are conditioned to receive sounds and pass it to your brains for processing. Your eyes also see things and pass the information to the same brain for processing.
The intakes to the body system include what you eat or drink; what you see, what you hear and what you breath in. Has it occurred to you that your body responds to these intakes in many ways? Let us take them one after the other.
MIND WHAT YOU EAT. It is said that “you are what you eat”. Mind what goes through your mouth to your body. What you eat determines your health. At different stages of life, there are foods to eat that benefit. There are also ones that you eat to the detriment of your health. Some food can be poisonous. What you eat will determine whether you are healthy at all. Several diseases are direct effects of what you eat. Check your Bible. The LORD painstakingly instructed the Israelites on foods that are heathy and the ones that are not.
When we talk of diabetes, high blood pressure, dysentery, water borne diseases etc, they are reflections of what you eat. It will be good for you to be educated on what nutrition is healthy for you. It has been said that if you don’t make food your medicine, you will soon graduate to a point that medicine would become your food! Be not only mindful of what you eat, be mindful of where and how you eat. Be mindful of your food habits. Where to eat; when to eat and how to eat are to be taken into consideration. When we talk about the covenant of Health, please note that you have a role to play and that this role, to a large extent is food-dependent.
We must note that food is one of the best gifts that God has given to us. It fuels our bodies, nourishes us and gives us happiness. Nevertheless when not properly handed, food becomes an albatross. Find out what food is good for you and vice-versa. God has great plans for you. You need a healthy body to run the race. Find out what foods are benefitting to you and keep to them whatever your stage in life.
MEDITATION: Healthy food is equal to sound health.
