OPPRESSION IS NOT YOUR PORTION
Isaiah 54: 10-17
This good news is for you. You shall be far from oppression. It is from the mouth of the Lord himself. He who sits on the throne of grace declares that: In righteousness shall thou be established: thou shalt be far from oppression: for thou shalt not fear: and from terror; for it shall not come near thee. Isaiah 54:14. In these days of terror, banditry, kidnapping, armed robbery, killer herdsmen and crookedness everywhere, the Lord will have us declare to you that you shall be far from oppression. You shall be far from terror. They will not know your address.
What is oppression? It is to be put under subjection by a force stronger than you. It means to live in perpetual fear, torment, spiritual and physical torture for as long as the oppression lasts. It is a state of captivity in which one is at the mercy of the oppressor. This year, no oppression will get the better of you in Jesus Name. Beloved, you are a child of God. As such, oppression is not meant for you. Rather it should be far from you. In the program of God for your life, you are to live above oppression. You can go over the highlighted text again. This should assure you that you are not destined for oppression. God has put enough safety valves around you to ensure your escape from oppression.
But it is not automatic. Yes, there are Christians being oppressed daily. Your exemption from oppression is dependent on you. First you must know that oppression is of the devil: “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power, who went about doing good, and healthy all that were oppressed of the devil for God was with him”, Acts 10:38. You must understand that oppression in whatever form takes its roots from the devil. Don’t resign to fate saying it is the situation of the country. No! It is the devil at work killing and molesting people using his agents on earth. You must deal with him according to biblical injunctions. You must resist, rebuke and cast out the oppressor. You must fight the devil spiritually. Every oppression is spiritual. And spiritual problems can only be tackled and resolved spiritually. In the next few studies, we shall be dealing with this topic to ensure total understanding and total deliverance for you.
