OPPRESSION IS NOT YOUR PORTION III

Luke 11: 21-26

In today’s text, the Lord Jesus gives us another insight into our understanding of oppression.  The devil works through demons and the demons have different levels of strength.  They come armed into a life and make life unbearable for the oppressed.  But when a “stronger man” appears, the oppressed man is delivered.

When a strong man armed, keepeth his palace, his goods are in peace: But when a stronger than he shall come upon him, and overcome him, he taketh from him all his armour wherein he trusted, and divideth his spoils. Verses 21 & 22

It is a simple and easy to understand analogy.  If you are spiritually weak, the enemy will take advantage of you and oppress you spiritually. Spiritual oppression can manifest in several ways in the physical.  It can manifest in sickness, poverty, depression, backwardness, lack of progress and other symptoms.

The oppressed must understand that “when a stronger than he” comes, the oppressor will run away.  How then do we get that stronger fellow? First, you must seek help and guidance from more matured Christians.

Lord have mercy on my son: for he is lunatic, and sore vexed. For oft times he falleth into the fire, and oft into the water. And I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him.  Mathew 17:15-16

This woman’s son was under oppression.  She ran to the disciples of the Lord but they could do nothing, and then she appealed to the Lord himself.  More often than not an oppressed man may not be able to help himself.  But he can seek help from others just like this woman did.  But you must ensure that those you run to operate by the Spirit of the Lord.  It is advisable that you connect to the ministers in your assembly for help and guidance.

PRAYER: Ask God for protection against every form of oppression.
