OPPRESSION IS NOT YOUR PORTION IV
Luke 11: 21-26
We are still considering the analysis of oppression in the teaching of our Lord Jesus as contained in today’s text. The second principle is found hereunder. When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest; and finding none, he saith, I will return unto my house whence I came out. And when he cometh, he findeth it swept and garnished. Then goeth he, and taketh to him seven other spirits more wicked than himself; and they enter in, and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Luke 11:24-26
It is true you sought help and you are now delivered. But you cannot be dependent on others perpetually for spiritual upkeep. When the oppressor is sent packing, don’t leave your life empty. It is like leaving your house clean without an occupant. If this is so, the oppressing demon is still lurking by waiting to come back. So what do you do? Invest in spiritual growth to make yourself stronger. Baptism in the Holy Spirit is crucial. God now dwells in you and “greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world”. You will now take further steps to put on the whole armour of the Lord.
Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints Eph. 6: 14-18
The above listed armour is a fearful arsenal against the oppressor. They include truth, righteousness, evangelism, faith, salvation and the word of God. Arm yourself with these whether you have faced oppression before or not. Don’t wait till the day of battle before you start learning how to fight.
PRAYER: Lord you are my shield and buckler. I trust in you against every form of oppression in Jesus Name.
