OPPRESSION IS NOT YOUR PORTION X

Colossians 2:6-15

We are rounding up this series on being far from oppression with a treatise on the reality of what Jesus accomplished for us on the cross. It was a total victory wrought over the forces of darkness. He fought and defeated them. He has given us the victory. No force of darkness has any legal power to oppress a child of God if that child of God does not permit it. For a proper understanding of the finished work on the cross, let’s look at it from the Message Translation.

When you were stuck in your old sin-dead life, you were incapable of responding to God. God brought you alive—right along with Christ! Think of it! All sins forgiven, the slate wiped clean, that old arrest warrant canceled and nailed to Christ’s cross. He stripped all the spiritual tyrants in the universe of their sham authority at the Cross and marched them naked through the streets.

So don’t put up with anyone pressuring you . . . Don’t tolerate people who try to run your life, ordering you to bow and scrape . . . They’re completely out of touch with the source of life, Christ, who puts us together in one piece, whose very breath and blood flow through us. He is the Head and we are the body. We can grow up healthy in God only as he nourishes us.

Can you see? You have been redeemed from the tyranny of the devil. Jesus stripped the tyrants of their authority over you and “marched them naked (in shame) through the streets”! one thing that will keep you far from oppression is your knowledge of who you are in Christ and what Jesus has done for you. Therefore lay hold on the word and do the things in previous studies and you shall be free.

MEDITATION: So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. John 8:36
