SERVICE

Ephesians 2: 1-10

We are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works (Ephesians 2:10). You are called to live a life of service, to humanity and to God. Diligence is required in whatever you do. “Be not slothful in business.” (Roman 12:11). Whatever profession you choose deserves your commitment if you hope to derive any benefit from it. Your business or office work is service. Be committed to it and serve conscientiously.

It is important that whatever service you render should be from the heart because God only pays attention to genuine service not lip-service or eye-service. “Whatever ye do, do it heartily as to the Lord and not unto men, knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of inheritance for ye serve the lord Christ” (Colossians 3:23-24). You are not in life as a spectator but a key player. Most especially, in your home church, what service are you rendering? God cares about your service to him. If you are mindful of things that concern God, he will definitely be mindful of you. If you tend to God’s vineyard, he will attend to your case. Dale A. Robbins identified some ways you can contribute your quota in service even in your Church:

–           Be faithful to attend and participate

–           Commit yourself to love the Lord and your brethren

–           Pray for your Church and its Pastors and leaders

–           Help shoulder the load of responsibility

–           Get to know your spiritual leaders and cooperate with them

–           Apply the teaching of the ministry to your life

–           Seek out and use your gift

–           Contribute to solutions and not add to the problems

You must live your life beyond yourself, because those who live only for themselves have little lives.
