THE HOLY COMMUNION 3

Matthew 26:26-30

And as they were eating, Jesus took bread and blessed it, and brake it and gave it to disciples saying “Take, eat, this is my body”.

According to our text above, the flesh which is always referred to as bread is the flesh of Jesus which he gave on behalf of mankind. In the book of John 6:50, Jesus said that anyone who eats of the bread which is his flesh shall not die.

What is the potency of the flesh?

The flesh which is represented by bread neutralizes poison. It normalizes all forms of imbalance in our body and makes us sound and strong. The flesh serves as an eye opener. After Jesus resurrection, when he broke bread and gave to his disciples, after eating, their eyes were open and they knew that it was Jesus. It also restores mental dignity, whenever we partake of the flesh of Jesus, the very wisdom of God which is in Jesus is transferred to us.

And he took the cup, and gave thanks and gave it to them. Saying “Drink ye all of it. For this is my blood of the new covenant which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

The wine is the blood of Jesus. Everybody’s state of being is traceable to the content of his blood. Leviticus 17:11states that “The life of the flesh is in the blood”. Jesus introduced the blood to give us mastery over life’s challenges. The blood exempts us from satanic attack; helps us to overcome sin and its consequences and is our covenant stronghold over the devil.

PRAYER: Father, as I partake of the flesh of Jesus Christ, cause me to enjoy its full benefit.
