THE LAW OF CONNECTION

Matthew 10:24-25

Our world is more connected than we ever have been, all thanks to the internet. We have access to get to know people, see into their world, and reconnect with people from our past. The world has “shrunk” to become a global village where we can all reach each other on the click of a button.

Connection is one thing we cannot do without. We need each other. “Connecting with others gives us a sense of inclusion, connection, interaction and safety. It is for this reason we must be intentional about staying connected. Jesus wants us to stay connected. The sure connectivity that we require to stay connected is LOVE, (John 13:34-25). Man was never created to dwell in isolation. Genesis 2:18 says it is not good that man should be alone (Gen. 2:18). To fill the gap and ensure connection, God created a companion for Adam. And in the cool of the day, the Bible recorded that God, himself, would come around to fellowship with them. Christianity is centred on relationship. The connectivity was lost after Adam sinned. To re-activate man’s connection with God, after the sin of Adam and Eve, God found a way in Jesus Christ to reconcile us to him.

God desires to have hitch free connection with man. And he wants man to also relate well with one another. To stay connected with one another, your connection with God must be solid. It is the source of your other connectivity. “Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me, (John 15:4). If you do not remain connected to him, you will lose your flow. Don’t lose your connection.

Everything that works is connected. The bulb is nothing but a piece of glass until it is connected to a power source. Once the bulb is connected, it becomes a source of light. Connection doesn’t have to be visible to be effective, when an object is connected, the source definitely knows that there’s a connection. Also, you can’t be connected and not know it, there must be a flow. It could be a flow of genuine effort of service or a flow of resources. Being connected is more than who you know it is more about who knows you.

When you are connected, the person you recognize as a father, also recognizes you as a son, the one you submit to as a mentor also takes you as a protégée. You are your friend’s friend only when you’re properly connected. Connection will take you to places you ordinarily won’t even be able to get to, it will bring to you things that you have no idea where it’s coming from. Invest your time and effort into meaningful connections and watch your life glow from the effect.

MEDITATION: Nothing works without connection. Identify with your source and at-par relationships.
