THE LAW OF TIDINESS
Genesis 1:1-10
Tidiness is a state of being neat or orderly. It is the condition or quality of having everything ordered and arranged in the right place: It is one foundational virtue you need to cultivate. Tidiness is a force of attraction on its own. It poses you as a structured personality. It is a common saying that; neatness is associated with closeness to God/Holiness. As the saying goes, orderliness is next to godliness. The bible says let all things be done decently and in order. 1 Corinthians 14:40.
God is a God of order. His creation reflects that perfectly. He had the power to create everything in one day, yet, He did the same in Six days and also rested. One major thing to notice in God’s creation is how tidy all He made was and still is. The transformational process from the untidy status of the world as recorded in Genesis 1:2 to what He made out of the same is unmatched till date. He dealt with darkness, dealt with formlessness, voidness and various sorts of issues and finally rested on the seventh day. It should be noted that, there won’t be rest for a man who is not tidy/orderly. He will bestow much labor being disorderly than being orderly. He will lose much more being disorderly than being orderly. Most corporations of the world and fortune 500 companies that last decades and centuries have been found to apply this God’s attribute called tidiness/orderliness/structure.
You can only be assured of the future when you’ve got the structure in place to accommodate the same. So the law of “No structure, no future” is very true. Tidiness involves setting things in the right place; doing things the way they should be done; being where you are supposed to be at the time you ought to. It also involves neatness, comportment, cleanliness and punctuality. It shows in the way you arrange your room, house and business premises. You enter some people’s house, there is no place to sit in the sitting room. All the chairs are occupied with clothing, shoes and children toys. The rest room is untidy and can’t be open to visitors. In the office, files and books are scattered all over the place! These should not be.
The way you order your environment is a reflection of how you order your life. Tidiness will attract people to you. If otherwise, people will be repelled. And you know, there’s nothing you do in life that you don’t need people. When quality people begin to depart because of the way you carry yourself, it becomes an issue. Be neat. Be clean. Be punctual. Keep to the rules. Dress well. There are ways of dressing that fit (or don’t fit) certain occasions. Carry yourself well. People will look at the container (you) before they look at the content (your business, message or service). Positive image is borne out of tidiness.
In summary, it is expedient to follow God’s footsteps of tidiness/orderliness to become a cynosure of attraction in every area of our lives than to run through live without the maker’s manufacturer’s manual as planned by Him for us.
REFLECTION: What is people’s perception of me and my business?
