THERE IS A ROSE WITHIN YOUR SOUL
But we have this treasure in earthen vessels that the Excellency of the power may be of God and not of us. 2 Corinthians 4:7
Within every soul is a rose. A certain man planted a rose flower seed, watered it religiously, expectantly waiting to see the seed become a plant, then the emergence of its flower. But the flower blossomed; the man however, noticed thorns around the stem. He wondered how a beautiful flower can come out of a thorny stem. The man’s attention was on the thorns. Saddened by what he saw, the man withdrew from watching this “thorny plant” then the plant died.
This is the picture of many people. There is a rose within every soul; a gift, a blessing, ability and the like. A rose can be referred to as that godly quality that has been deposited in you. God packaged you with these gifts and abilities from birth, but while growing up, you could have noticed thorns around you. Thorns of faults, thorns of defeat, thorns of errors and mistakes and you can barely cope with these thorns. This is the point at which you despise yourself, thinking nothing good can come out of you.
What are you seeing? The thorns or the emergence of the rose? Many times we neglect to water the good within us and it eventually dies. Fan the gift in you into flames; don’t neglect it because of the thorns around you. “But we have this treasure in earthen vessels…” There is a rose within your soul.
If you show people their roses they will conquer their thorns.
