UNITED IN PURPOSE
Joshua 1:10-18
“Whatever you have commanded us we will do, and wherever you send us we will go.” – Joshua 1:16
Following God’s command to lead the Israelites into the Promised Land, Joshua calls the people to prepare themselves, reminding them of God’s promise. In response, they commit to follow him, showing their unity, obedience, and trust in God’s plan.
Joshua gave clear instructions as God’s chosen leader, and the people responded wholeheartedly. Obeying God sometimes involves following the leaders He appoints, especially when the path forward is challenging or unfamiliar.
The tribes of Israel united in commitment to each other and to God’s mission, each prepared to fulfill their part. When we stand together with shared purpose, we’re strengthened and better equipped to carry out God’s work.
The people encouraged Joshua to “be strong and courageous!” (Joshua 1:18), echoing God’s words. In the same way, we’re called to build each other up, especially in times of change or uncertainty, so that no one walks alone.
Today’s text teaches us the importance of trusting in God-given leadership, as demonstrated by the Israelites’ commitment to follow Joshua. It highlights the strength found in unity and collective commitment, showing that we can achieve more together for God’s kingdom. Additionally, the passage emphasizes the value of encouraging one another in faith, particularly during uncertain times, reminding us that we are called to build each other up as we journey forward together.
PRAYER: Lord, help me trust in my leaders, work in unity for Your purpose, and encourage those around me. Strengthen my faith as we follow You together.
