WANT TO GET TO THE TOP?

Psalm 24: 1-6

The Top should be the dream of any believer.  This is the way God ordained it.  It is part of our blessings.

And the LORD shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only one that shall not be beneath.  Deuteronomy 28:13

It is our destiny and blessing to get to the Top.  Being at the top is to be above everyone else.  It is to be at the pinnacle of your career, academics and business.  It is to be at the commanding heights of whatever you are involved in.  It is to be the cynosure of all eyes.  It is to be heads and shoulders “taller” than the others.  Daniel and his friends were reported to be ten times better than everyone else.  You will get there in Jesus name.  It is to be among the leading lights of your profession, academics etc.

How do we get these? Our text describes it as “the will of the LORD” and prescribes a few secrets needed to get there: He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.    Ps 24:4

Four criteria are listed there as conditions for getting to the top.  You need “clean hands”. As a believer, you must not be engaged in dirty deeds.  Let your hand be clean.  Maintain integrity.  Let integrity be your guiding principle in whatever you are involved.  It was said of Daniel that the conspirators could not find any fault against him.  Honesty, faithfulness and righteousness are demonstrations of integrity.  Let them be your description.  Be a man your colleagues and neighbors can vouch for.  Another secret is “pure heart”.  Your conscience must be clear.  Don’t do things that the Holy Spirit inside you will condemn.  Stop harboring hatred, unforgiveness, envy etc. in your heart.  Keep your heart pure of all malice and conflicts.  Avoid vanity in your decision-making process.  Be guided by things of value.

Finally, don’t “swear deceitfully”.  Let your words align with your actions.  Let your yea be yea and your nay be nay.  Don’t say things that are different from your actions.  Stop lying.  Stop words that pull down.  Rather, let your words edify.  If you will do these, the top is waiting for you when you do your part, God will have the rest.
